Gift Nifty indicates a positive start for the broader index in India, with a gain of 80 points or 0.33 percent. The Nifty futures were trading around the 24,679 level.<\/p>

US stocks slumped on Friday, and the S&P suffered its biggest daily percentage decline in more than two months as new U.S. tariffs on dozens of trading partners and a surprisingly weak jobs report spurred selling pressure.<\/p>

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 542.40 points, or 1.23%, to 43,588.58, the S&P 500 lost 101.38 points, or 1.60%, to 6,238.01, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 472.32 points, or 2.24%, to 20,650.13.<\/p>

The S&P 500 recorded its biggest single-day percentage decline since May 21, while the Nasdaq suffered its biggest daily percentage drop since April 21.<\/p>

Asian share markets followed Wall Street lower on Monday as fears for the U.S. economy returned with a vengeance, spurring investors to price in an almost certain rate cut for September and undermining the dollar.<\/p>

Japan\u2019s Nikkei and the Taiwanese weighted index went down 1.79 and 0.63 percent, respectively, Hong Kong\u2019s Hang Seng and the KOSPI index went up 0.07 and 0.71 percen,t respectively.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
