PRE MARKET REPORT
Gift Nifty indicates a negative start for the broader index in India, with a loss of 1,508.91 points, or 1.96%, to close at 78,553.20, while the Nifty 50 settled 414.45 points, or 1.77%, higher at 23,851.65.
Mixed signals from international markets are contributing to cautious investor sentiment.
S&P 500 saw minor gains to settle higher by 0.13 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.13 percent. However, the Dow Jones index surged 1.3 percent in trade.
Asia-Pacific markets opened mixed on early Monday morning as investors awaited China’s rate decision at a time when the yuan has come under pressure due to Beijing-Washington trade tensions.
Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 fell over one percent, while the broader Topix index lost 0.9 percent. In South Korea, the Kospi index increased 0.22 percent at the open while the small-cap Kosdaq was flat. China-based Shanghai Composite was higher by 0.4 percent.
