Gift Nifty indicates a positive start for the Indian market; US Market ended higher; Asian stocks opened higher compared to previous closing

Gift Nifty indicates a positive start for the broader index in India, with a gain of 47.5 points or 0.19 percent. The Nifty futures were trading around the 24,441 level.

US stocks ended high, and the Nasdaq notched a record closing high for the second straight day on Friday as technology-related shares, including Apple, gained and as investors were optimistic about potential interest rate cuts.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 206.97 points, or 0.47%, to 44,175.61, the S&P 500 gained 49.45 points, or 0.78%, to 6,389.45, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 207.32 points, or 0.98%, to 21,450.02.

Major share indexes crept higher in Asia on Monday as upbeat company earnings underpinned high valuations in the tech sector, while a crucial report on U.S. inflation would likely set the course of the dollar and bonds.

Japan’s Nikkei, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng, and the Taiwanese weighted index went down 0.10, 0.2,6, and 0.08 percent respectively.

ICICI Bank

The private sector lender has raised the average minimum balance for savings accounts in metros and urban areas to Rs 50,000 from the current Rs 10,000. This will apply to new accounts being opened from August 1. It has also raised the minimum balance requirement for savings accounts in semi-urban branches to Rs 25,000, from Rs 5,000 earlier, and in rural branches to Rs 10,000, up from Rs 2,500 earlier.

IDFC First Bank

Platinum Invictus B 2025 RSC has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India to invest up to 9.99% of the paid-up share capital of IDFC First Bank. Out of this, Platinum Invictus B 2025 RSC has proposed to invest Rs 2,624 crore (constituting a 5.09% stake) in the bank, as part of the preferential issue approved by the shareholders of the bank on May 17, 2025.

State Bank of India

Shares of State Bank of India (SBI) will be in the spotlight on August 11 after the lender reported steady June quarter results, with higher treasury income helping profit surpass Street expectations. Analysts remain largely positive, pointing to the management’s guidance on stable asset quality and margins as important positives.

Info Edge (India), the parent firm of Naukri, Jeevansaathi, and 99Acres, will see its shares in focus on Monday, August 11, after the firm reported a 27 percent jump in profit for the three months ended June 30, 2025.
