Indian equity indices ended with gains; All the sectoral indices ended in green except media; Broader market indices ended mixed

POST MARKET

The Indian equity market started the week on a strong note, with benchmarks snapping a three-day losing streak, as the U.S. moves to end the longest federal government shutdown ever.

At close, the Sensex was up 319.07 points or 0.38 percent at 83,535.35, and the Nifty was up 82.00 points or 0.32 percent at 25,574.30. About 1787 shares advanced, 2183 shares declined, and 132 shares were unchanged.

Except for media (down 1%), all other sectoral indices ended in the green, with the IT index up 1.6 percent, the pharma index up nearly 1 percent, and the metal index up 0.6 percent.

Infosys, HCL Technologies, Grasim Industries, Bajaj Finance, and Wipro were among the major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Trent, Apollo Hospitals, Max Healthcare, Power Grid, and Tata Consumer.

Among the broader market indices, the BSE Midcap index up 0.6 percent, whilethe  smallcap index fell 0.4 percent.

STOCKS TODAY

Trent

The shares of Zudio and Westside-parent Trent dropped by almost 7.5 percent after the company released its second-quarter results for the ongoing financial year 2026. Some brokerages cut target prices for the stock, noting that slower revenue growth was reported during the quarter.

NALCO

The shares of National Aluminium Company (NALCO) recorded sharp gains up to 10 percent after the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,430 crore for Q2 FY26. This marks a 37% YoY rise from the Rs 1,046 crore net profit reported in Q2 FY25.

Hindustan Aeronautics

Hindustan Aeronautics’ share price gained over 3.5 percent following the company’s agreeing with General Electric Company, USA, for the supply of 113 F404-GE-IN20 engines and a support package for the execution of the 97 LCA Mk1A programme.

Balrampur Chini Mill

The sugar manufacturer’s stocks went up 6.62 percent after Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi said the Centre has decided to allow export of 1.5 million tonne (MT) of sugar for the 2025-26 sugar season that started from October.
