Indian equity indices ended higher; Sectoral indices ended mixed; Broader market indices ended marginally lower

POST MARKET

The Indian benchmark indices extended the winning run on the second consecutive session on November 20, echoing strong cues from global markets in a positive, upward-trending session with sustained buying interest.

At close, the Sensex was up 446.21 points or 0.52 percent at 85,632.68, and the Nifty was up 139.50 points or 0.54 percent at 26,192.15. About 1764 shares advanced, 2224 shares declined, and 167 shares were unchanged.

On the sectoral front, auto, capital goods, oil & gas, private bank, energy up 0.2-0.6%, while consumer durable, media, PSU Bank down 0.3-1.5 percent.

Eicher Motors, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, and Tech Mahindra were among the major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Asian Paints, HCL Technologies, Titan Company, Apollo Hospitals and Tata Steel.

Broader indices underperformed the main indices, with BSE Midcap and smallcap indices ending marginally lower.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures

Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.’s share price went up 6.41 percent for the day, taking its cumulative gains to 27 percent over two sessions. This comes after the Gautam Adani-led group received approval from the Committee of Creditors (CoC) of Jaiprakash Associates for its resolution offer.

Hero Motocorp

Hero MotoCorp shares rose about 2.23 percent, crossing the Rs 6,000 mark for the first time since September 2024, after Macquarie and J.P. Morgan issued back-to-back upgrades on the stock.

Mangalam Drugs and Organics

The shares of Mangalam Drugs and Organics dropped more than 10 percent on November 20, extending losses to a whopping 23 percent in two days. This comes after the company announced that it has defaulted on two bank loans.

Sammaan Capital

The shares of Sammaan Capital ended 1.84 percent down, even after the company clarified that the Supreme Court’s case related to alleged irregularities at the NBFC was related to an erstwhile promoter who is no longer associated with the company.
