Gift Nifty indicates a positive start; US markets ended on the positive side; Asian markets openen positively

PRE MARKET

Gift Nifty indicates a positive start for the broader index in India, with a gain of 60 points or 0.23 percent. The Nifty futures were trading around the 25,919 level.

The S&P 500 and Dow registered record closing highs on Monday, with shares of technology companies and retailer Walmart ‌gaining, as investors mostly brushed aside concerns about the U.S. Justice Department’s criminal investigation of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 86.13 points, or 0.17%, to 49,590.20, the S&P 500 gained 10.99 points, or 0.16%, to 6,977.27, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 62.56 points, or 0.26%, to 23,733.90.

Asian shares climbed to near a record, buoyed by optimism over earnings and regional economic growth as investors broadened their focus beyond US markets.

Japan’s Nikkei, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng, and the Taiwanese weighted index went up 3.5, 1.28, and 0.61 percent, respectively.

Biocon

The Board has approved the opening of the Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) issue on January 12, with a floor price of Rs 387.74 per share. The issue size is likely to be around Rs 4,150 crore.

KP Green Engineering

KP Group has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government for the development of renewable energy projects worth Rs 4,000 crore in Gujarat. Under the MoU, KP Group proposes to establish renewable energy projects with a total capacity of approximately 855 MW, comprising solar power projects and ISTS-connected wind–solar hybrid power projects.

Sical Logistics

The company has received a Letter of Acceptance from South Eastern Coalfields for a project worth Rs 4,038 crore at the Porda Chimtapani Open Cast project in Chhattisgarh.

NLC India

The Board has given in-principle approval for the listing of the company’s subsidiary, NLC India Renewables (NIRL), through the dilution of up to 25% of its equity stake in one or more tranches via a public offer.

Further, the Board has announced an interim dividend of Rs 3.60 per share for FY26. The record date has been fixed as January 16 to determine the members entitled to receive the interim dividend. Additionally, the Board approved an investment of up to Rs 66.60 crore in one or more tranches in NLC India Renewables, as and when required, to fund green energy projects to be executed through joint venture companies.
