Gift Nifty indicates a positive start for the broader index in India, with a gain of 124 points or 0.53 percent. The Nifty futures were trading around the 23,327 level.
US stocks ended down on Friday, capping a week in which erratic crude oil prices whipsawed equities, as investors gauged how the war in Iran was affecting the global oil supply.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 119.38 points, or 0.26%, to 46,558.47, the S&P 500 lost 40.43 points, or 0.61%, to 6,632.19 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 206.62 points, or 0.93%, to 22,105.36.
Asian markets were in a wary mood on Monday as hostilities in the Gulf kept oil prices elevated, complicating an inflation outlook that should keep most central banks on pause at policy meetings this week, barring one possible hike.
Japan’s Nikkei and the Taiwanese weighted index went down -0.71 and -0.07 percent, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng went up 0.11 percent.

The company has been declared the L-1 bidder for a road project worth Rs 160.2 crore from the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCCL) on an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis in Odisha. The project involves the construction of a diversion road of Duduka–Gopalpur–Toparia Road (6 lanes with a service road) in Sundargarh on an EPC mode.
