Gift Nifty indicates a positive start for the Indian market; US Market ended mixed; Asian market open lower

PRE MARKET

Gift Nifty indicates a flat to positive start for the broader index in India, with a gain of 25.5 points or 0.10 percent. The Nifty futures were trading around the 24,740 level.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 89.37 points, or 0.21%, to 42,051.06, and its biggest losers were drug companies Merck & Co., down 4%, and Amgen, which finished down 3%.

The S&P 500 gained 6.03 points, or 0.10%, to 5,892.58. This added slightly to its year-to-date gain after closing higher for the year on Tuesday for the first time since February 28. The benchmark is still about 4% below its Feb. 19 record closing high, for its sixth straight day of gains.

Stocks in Asia fell on Thursday for the first time in five sessions as the rally on Wall Street sparked by US-China trade talks showed signs of exhaustion.

Japan’s Nikkei fell 1.21 percent, Hang Seng decreased around 0.5 percent, and the Taiwanese weighted index also decreased 0.07 percent.

Wendt India

Parent company Wendt GmbH, Germany, will sell up to 37.5% of its stake (including a 7.5% green shoe option) in the company via an offer-for-sale (OFS) on May 15–16. The floor price has been fixed at Rs 6,500 per share. The OFS will open for non-retail investors on May 15 and for retail investors on May 16.

Brigade Enterprises

The Bengaluru-based real estate company has acquired a 5.41-acre land parcel in Chennai for the development of a premium residential project. The project has a total development potential of 0.8 million square feet and a gross development value of approximately Rs 1,600 crore. The transaction value of the acquisition is Rs 441.70 crore.

Wipro

The technology services and consulting company has announced a digital transformation partnership with Hachette UK (HUK), a leading UK-based publishing group. Wipro will assist in modernizing Hachette UK’s IT infrastructure through the implementation of SAP S/4HANA.

Shilpa Medicare

Subsidiary Shilpa Pharma Lifesciences’ Unit-1 has received an Establishment Inspection Report (EIR) from the US FDA. The site has been classified as Voluntary Action Indicated (VAI) following an inspection conducted between March 3 and March 7.

State Bank of India

The Board will meet on May 20 to consider long-term fundraising of up to $3 billion through a public offer or private placement of senior unsecured notes in US dollars or other major foreign currencies, in single or multiple tranches, during FY26.

Allcargo Logistics

Deepal Shah has resigned as Chief Financial Officer, effective May 16. The Board has approved the appointment of Ravi Jakhar, currently the Chief Strategy Officer, as the new Chief Financial Officer, effective May 19. He will be re-designated as Director – Strategy & Group CFO.
