Indian equity indices ended higher; All the sectoral indices ended in green; Broader market indices also ended higher

POST MARKET

Indian equity indices ended higher on October 15, as buying interest pushed the index higher following dovish commentary from the U.S. Federal Reserve’s Chair.

At close, the Sensex was up 575.45 points or 0.70 percent at 82,605.43, and the Nifty was up 178.05 points or 0.71 percent at 25,323.55. About 2393 shares advanced, 1587 shares declined, and 152 shares were unchanged.

The biggest Nifty gainers were Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Trent, Nestle India, and Asian Paints, while the losers were Infosys, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra, and Axis Bank.

All the sectoral indices ended in the green with the realty index up 3%, while power, consumer durables, PSU Bank, metal, and telecom indices were up 1-2%

Among the broader market indices, the BSE midcap index added 1%, and the smallcap index jumped 0.7%.

STOCKS TODAY

Urban Company

The shares of Urban Company jumped almost 9 percent on October 15. This comes a day before the one-month shareholder lock-in period comes to an end on October 16. The shares have now snapped a five-session losing streak.

Sobha Ltd

The real estate share went up 4.72 percent, amid optimism that the US Federal Reserve may go for further rate cuts later this year. The Nifty Realty index also rose over 3 percent.

Ola Electric Mobility

The shares of Ola Electric Mobility jumped 5 percent to hit the upper circuit on October 15 as investors awaited the EV scooter-maker’s launch of its first non-vehicle product, called ‘Ola Shakti’.

Welspun Enterprises

The board of Welspun Enterprises went up 6.667 percent, as the company has approved raising funds via a preferential allotment of 1.90 crore warrants for Rs 525 to promoter Balkrishan Goenka and several public shareholders, totalling up to Rs 1,000 crore.

ICICI Lombard

The shares of ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company jumped 9 percent after the company reported an 18 percent on-year rise in net profit to Rs 820 crore for the second quarter of the financial year 2026. The two companies had released their results for the July-September quarter of the financial year 2026 yesterday (October 14).
