Indian Indices Nifty and Sensex rebounded from losses and closed higher as IT and FMCG stocks gained. The Sensex closed 0.38% up to 55,792.27 and Nifty rose 0.31% to 16,614.60.
Among sectoral indices in Nifty, IT (2.57%), FMCG (1.42%) and Pharma (0.54%) gained and Metal, PSU Bank and Auto lost 2.30%, 1.79% and 0.91%, respectively.
Indian Rupee fell 10 paise to 74.35 against the US dollar on Tuesday.
Asian shares fell on Tuesday, as investors were worried over China’s clampdown on the country’s internet sector and the worldwide spike in the delta variant cases of the pandemic.

Tata Consultancy Services: The IT services company’s shares rose 2.31% to Rs 3553.05 and its market cap crossed Rs 13 lakh crore mark. The Nifty IT index rose more than 2% and other IT companies like Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Coforge, Mindtree and MPhasis also rallied on investor optimism. TCS reported a 28.5% rise in net profit at ₹9,008 crore in Apr-Jun quarter of FY22 as compared to ₹7,008 crore in the year-ago period.
Hindustan Zinc: The company’s shares fell 3.99% to Rs 317.65 after the company posponed the board meeting which was expected to take place today. During intraday, the shares dropped 5% to touch Rs 314 per share, the lowest in the past four months.
Steel Strips Wheels Ltd: The company surged 5% to Rs 1666.6 after the company announced that it will consider share split of face value Rs 10.
