Benchmark equity indices closed lower in an extremely choppy day as investors remained cautious amid the ongoing stand-off between Russia and Ukraine. The Sensex ended 0.1 per cent lower, while the Nifty 50 fell 0.16 per cent for the day.
Top losers among Nifty sectoral indices were Realty [-1.25%], Energy [-0.88%], Pharma [-0.87%], Infrastructure [-0.73%] and Auto [-0.63%]. Top gainers were Financial Services [0.26%] and Bank [0.18%]
Indian rupee rose 45 paise to 74.66 against the US dollar.

Metaverse is a simulated digital environment where a person will feel immersed in a virtual world. This will push data usage by 20 times across the globe by 2032, according to the report.
Coal India Ltd: The government-owned miner warned production of the fuel may fall, risking new threats to the nation’s energy supply, if the company isn’t able to raise prices, according Bloomberg news report. The coal producer is facing cost pressures due to a looming rise in salaries and higher prices of diesel used to power mine equipment.
Vedanta Group: The group’s firm Avanstrate, which will spearhead the semiconductor business, expects to roll out electronic chips and displays from Indian manufacturing plants by 2025, the official of the group’s semiconductor arm said on Friday. Vedanta has earmarked $15 billion for foray into the electronic chip and display manufacturing space, and plans to increase the investments up to $20 billion.
IndiGo: The airline took delivery from Airbus of its first aircraft that will operate on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), a statement said. Ronojoy Dutta, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said that they are pleased to take delivery of Airbus aircraft which will run on SAF, as part of its journey towards sustainable aviation.
Adani Group: The company is in talks to acquire a state-of-the-art building located near the airport. According to a source, discussions have reached the closing stages and the deal is all set to be inked in taking over the building.
NXTDigital Ltd: Shares of the company soared nearly 19% in intraday trading after the digital television services provider approved the sale of its media and communications business to Hinduja Global Solutions. The board set a stock-swap ratio for the deal, with NXTDigital investors to get 20 shares of Hinduja Global for every 63 shares they hold in the company. However, the shares erased intraday gains to close 8.76% higher on a daily basis.
Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd: The company said that it will sell its entire 10.76 per cent stake in Nreach Online Services Pvt Ltd for a consideration of Rs 29.31 crore to Gift Management Asia Pte Ltd. The transaction is expected to be completed on or before July 31, 2022, it added.
NHPC: The PSU has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary named NHPC Renewable Energy Ltd, which will be involved in the development of renewable energy, small hydro and green hydrogen projects.
