Market Opening - An Overview

Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange were trading 0.56% lower at 17,978, signalling that Dalal Street was headed for a negative start on Wednesday.

Asian shares fell after data showed China’s October factory gate prices rose at the fastest pace since 1995, beating forecasts. Japan’s Nikkei fell 0.30% and Topix was down 0.21%. Hang Seng dropped 0.97% and CSI 300 plunged 1.50%.

Indian rupee was nearly flat as it rose 2 paise to 74.02 against the US dollar on Tuesday.

Shares of Nykaa will make their stock market debut on Wednesday, November 10. Shares of FSN E-commerce Ventures are available at a hefty premium of Rs 760-780 per equity share, which is about 70% more than its issue price range of Rs 1085-1125 per share.

Hindustan Copper: The company registered a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 67.53 crore in Q2FY22, up from Rs 9.12 crore in the same period last fiscal. Operating revenue rose to Rs 464.46 crore in Q2FY22 from Rs 294.67 crore in the year-ago period.

Power Grid Corp: The company’s consolidated net profit rose to Rs 3,376.4 crore in Q2FY22 from Rs 3,094.1 crore in Q2FY21. Revenue increased year-on-year to Rs 10,266.98 crore in the reported quarter from Rs 9,529.68 crore in the same period last year.

BHEL: The company posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 46.5 crore in Q2FY22, compared with a net loss of Rs 552.4 crore in Q2FY21. Revenue increased year-on-year to Rs 5,112.2 crore in the second quarter from Rs 3,696 crore in the corresponding period last year.

UltraTech Cement: The company announced its commitment to the GCCA 2050 Cement and Concrete Industry Roadmap for Net Zero Concrete. The cement maker also agreed to an intermediate goal of preventing 5 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2030.

AstraZeneca Pharma India: The drugmaker said its net profit declined 54.65% to Rs 11.94 crore in Q2FY22, from Rs 26.33 crore in the same period of preceding financial year. Its operating revenue in the reported quarter fell to Rs 197.70 crore from Rs 209.47 crore in the year-ago period.

Zee Media Corp: The company’s board will consider issuing equity-linked securities to its promoters after a proposal from a promoter group entity to invest further in the company. In its regulatory filing it said that this would be in one or more tranches, to a Promoter Group entity on a preferential basis.

PTC India Financial Services: The NBFC posted a net profit of Rs 51.46 crore in Q2FY22, up 65% from Rs 31.85 crore in the year-ago period. The total income fell to Rs 242.34 crore in the second quarter of FY22, from Rs 297.98 crore in the year-ago period. Net Interest Margin improved to 4.14% in from 3.7% in Q2FY21.

Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizer: The company’s net profit dropped 28.6% to Rs 28,97 crore in Q2FY22 from Rs 40.56 crore in the same period of previous financial year. Revenue from contracts marginally rose to Rs 727.81 in the reported quarter from Rs 688.73 crore in the same period last year.
