Pre Market Report: Dalal Street may open higher; Tata Motors, Vedanta, Adani Ports and Bank of Baroda in focus

Market Opening - An Overview

Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange were trading 0.79% higher at 16,261, signalling that Dalal Street was headed for a positive start on Friday.

Asian shares opened higher on Friday following gains on Wall Street overnight, as investors shifted their focus to jobs data due in the day and boosted by a possibility of major stimulus in China. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose 1.43% and Topix index jumped 1.32%. China’s Hang Seng increased 0.66% and CSI 300 index gained 0.17%.

Indian rupee rose 13 paise to 79.18 against the US dollar on Thursday.

Tata Motors: The company’s UK-based Jaguar Land Rover reported sales volumes at 78,825 units for three-month period ended June 2022, down 37% YoY and flat compared to previous quarter. Sales continued to be pressured by the global chip shortage, impact of Covid lockdowns in China and new model transition of Range Rover Sport.

Vedanta: The company plans to acquire Athena Chhattisgarh Power got Rs 564.67 crore. Athena is a 1200MW coal-based power plant at Jhanjgir Champa district, Chhattisgarh, and is under liquidation process. The acquisition is expected to be completed in FY23.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone: The company said the board of directors have considered and approved the appointment of D Muthukumaran as the Chief Financial Officer and Key Managerial Personnel of the company, with effect from July 25.

Bank of Baroda: The bank said its Investment Committee will hold a meeting on July 16 to finalise the quantum and timing of issuance of long term bonds for financing of infrastructure and affordable housing out of the board approved limit of Rs 5,000 crore.

Tata Power: The company would spend Rs 75,000 crore in the next five years to expand the capacity of its renewable energy business, Chairman N Chandrasekaran said on Thursday. An amount of Rs 10,000 crore would be spent in 2022-23 (FY23) to take the total capital expenditure (capex) during the financial year to Rs 14,000 crore, Chandrasekaran said at the company’s 103rd annual general meeting, which was held virtually.

Kalpataru Power Transmission: The subsidiary in Sweden – Kalpataru Power Transmission Sweden AB (KPT Sweden) has completed the acquisition of remaining 15% equity stake of Linjemontage i Grastrop AB, a Swedish EPC company (LMG) headquartered in Grastrop, by paying $11.5 million.

Pricol: The company has entered into Licensing Agreement with BMS PowerSafe SAS, France, for providing battery management system to the original equipment manufacturers in Indian market and international markets, across all vehicle segments. BMS PowerSafe is the brand of Startec Development Group.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories: The US health regulator has issued Form 483 with two observations after inspecting its manufacturing facility located at Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh.

Alkem Laboratories: The company has received Form 483 with one observation with respect to ANDA filed for the products to be manufactured at Indore plant. The US FDA had conducted a good manufacturing practice (GMP) and pre-approval inspection at manufacturing facility in Indore during July 1-7.

Vakrangee: Revenue from operations increased to Rs 226.03 crore in Q1FY23 as against Rs 154.02 crore in same period last year. The company had registered a profit of Rs 4.53 crore in quarter ended June 2022, down from Rs 23.33 crore in corresponding quarter last year as gross margins impacted primarily due to the launch of additional franchisee incentive schemes.

Oberoi Realty: The booking value for company in Q1FY23 came at Rs 750 crore comapred to Rs 930 crore from the preceding quarter. It booked 164 units in April-June quarter as against 234 units in the prior quarter.
