POST-MARKET REPORT

Indian benchmark indices closed in the green as the Sensex and Nifty climbed on Friday. At close, the Sensex was up 260.30 points, or 0.36%, at 72,664.47 while the Nifty 50 was up 97.70 points, or 0.44%, at 22,055.20.

Gainers and Losers on Nifty

11 of the 50 stocks on the Nifty 50 were in the red. TCS, Cipla, LTIMindtree, Infosys, and Wipro, were the top drags, while BPCL, NTPC, Power Grid Corp., Hero MotoCorp., and Asian Paints, were the top gainers.

11 of the 30 stocks on the BSE Sensex were in the red. TCS, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, and Mahindra & Mahindra, were the top drags, while NTPC, Power Grid Corp., JSW Steel, Bharti Airtel, and Asian Paints, were the top gainers.

Sector Indices performance

Barring IT, Realty, PSU Bank, and Bank, all other sectoral indices were trading in the green. The Metal, Oil & Gas, FMCG, and Auto indices were the top gainers.

Broader market indices today

The broader market was in the green, with the BSE SmallCap gaining 0.84%, and the BSE MidCap gaining 0.74%.

Vijaya Diagnostics: Shares of Vijaya Diagnostic Center surged over 10 percent to hit a new peak of Rs 818 as investors cheered for the company’s steady performance in the March quarter of FY24. Moreover, the company’s ability to withhold its operating margin levels despite expanding to newer markets received a thumbs up from brokerages.

Abbott India: Shares of Abbott India rose 5 percent on May 10 as investors rejoiced in the company’s strong performance in the January-March quarter. Meanwhile, the company also rolled out its highest-ever dividend payout, which attracted a flurry of investors to lap up the stock.

Polycab India: Polycab India shares hit a fresh high of Rs 6,109.9, rallying 5 percent on the BSE on May 10. This came after the company reported its highest-ever yearly and quarterly revenue and profitability in the January-March quarter of fiscal year 2023-24 (Q4FY24).

VST Tillers: Shares of VST Tillers Tractors fell 6 percent at Rs 3,222 a piece on May 10. The stock prices dipped after the company reported a sluggish quarter four earnings of the financial year 2023-24 (Q4FY24).

CAMS: Shares of the registrar and transfer agent for mutual funds Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) surged 6 percent on May 10 after it recorded a 38.7 percent on-year jump in profit after tax for the quarter ended March.

Asian Paints: The stock of this paint maker rose 3 percent on May 10 after it reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,275.3 crore for the March quarter, posting a rise of 1.3 percent from a year ago.

State Bank of India: Shares of State Bank of India surged 1.5 percent to Rs 832 per share on BSE after the lender’s profit rose 24 percent YoY in Q4FY24, beating Street estimates.

Tata Motors: Shares of Tata Motors Limited traded 2 percent higher on May 10, extending gains for the second session in a row, ahead of its fiscal fourth quarter results set to be announced later today.
