Gift Nifty indicates a flat to positive start opening; US markets also ended on a negative note; Asian markets traded higher

PRE MARKET

Gift Nifty indicate a flat to positive start for the broader index in India, with a gain of 28 points or 0.12 percent. The Nifty futures were trading around 24,369.50 level.

US stocks closed slightly lower on Monday, with each of the three major indexes coming off a third straight week of gains, as renewed U.S.-Iran tensions ‌put the durability of a two-week ceasefire in question.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 4.87 points, or 0.01%, to 49,442.56, the S&P 500 lost 16.92 points, or 0.24%, to 7,109.14 and the Nasdaq Composite declined ‌64.09 points, or 0.26%, to 24,404.39.

Asian stocks edged higher as signs Iran may join talks with the US fostered cautious optimism about progress in the Middle East ahead of a looming ceasefire deadline.

Japan’s Nikkei, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng, and the Taiwanese weighted index edged up 1.06, 0.20, and 2.05 percent respectively.

JSW Steel

The company has signed a joint venture agreement with South Korea’s POSCO to set up a 6 mtpa greenfield steel plant in Odisha.

Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels

Apeejay Surrendra has signed two hotel management agreements for the development of Zone Connect by The Park in Ayodhya and Zone Connect by The Park in Ujjain, marking a strategic expansion into two of India’s most prominent spiritual destinations.

AU Small Finance Bank

The bank said its board will consider fundraising via qualified institutional placement (QIP), preferential allotment, or other alternative modes on April 27. On the same day, it will also announce its financial results for the quarter and financial year ended March 2026, and may recommend a dividend on equity shares, if any, for FY26.
