Post Market: Nifty, Sensex plunge on inflationary worries; Page Industries, Pidilite and Godrej Consumer Products shares in news today

Benchmark Indian indices closed lower as investors were concerned over rising global inflationary pressure following the US inflation numbers. All Nifty sectoral indices closed in the red except Nifty Metal. Banking and financial services shares bore the brunt of heavy selling by investors and traders. The Sensex closed 0.72% lower to 59919.69 and Nifty plunged 0.80% to 17873.60.

Nifty metal gained 0.35%. Top losers were Nifty Realty [-2.33%], Nifty PSU Bank [-1.84%], Nifty Pharma [-1.39%], Nifty Financial Services [-1.25%] and Nifty Bank [-1.19%]

Indian rupee fell 13 paise to 74.51 against the US dollar on Thursday.

Page Industries: The company reported a strong results as the sales momentum picked up after the pandemic and increased market presence. It revenue rose 46.4 % YoY to Rs 1084 crore in the second quarter of FY22. EBITDA margin stood at 21.5 %, compared with 22.3% during the same period last year. Profit After Tax rose 45% YoY to at Rs. 160.5 crore.

Pidilite Industries: The adhesive maker reported strong results, helped by higher sales growth by volume and value as the economy recovered from the pandemic. Its consolidated operating revenue rose Rs 2626.35 crore in Q2FY22 from Rs 1880.33 crore in the year-ago period. Consolidated profit after tax rose to Rs 375.53 in Q2FY22 from Rs 356.44 crore in Q2FY21.

Godrej Consumer Products: The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 478.89 crore in Q2FY22 from Rs 458.02 crore in the year-ago period. Total revenue from operations rose to Rs 3163.65 crore in the second quarter from Rs Rs 2915.12 crore in the same period last year.

Affle India: Shares of the company closed 5.56% higher after the company reported robust results. Revenue from Operations stood at Rs. 274.7 crores, an increase of 103.6% year-on-year. EBITDA stood at Rs. 52.1 crores, a rise of 51.1% YoY and profit after tax rose 77.1% YoY to Rs 47.6 crore.

Piramal Enterprises: The company’s net profit fell 20.1% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 426.49 crore in Q2FY22 from Rs 533.79 crore in Q1FY22. Revenue rose 6.77% to Rs 3105.52 crore in Q2FY22, compared with Rs 2908.68 crore in Q1FY22.

Minda Industries: The company’s net profit jumped to Rs 92.2 crore in Q2FY22, from Rs 29.9 crore in Q1FY22. Revenue rose to Rs 2113.99 crore in the reported quarter from Rs 1602.55 crore in the first quarter of fiscal 2022.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited: The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 846.74 crore in Q2FY22 from Rs 194.68 crore in Q1FY22. Revenue rose Rs 5551.16 crore in the reported quarter from Rs 1615.83 crore in Q1FY22
