Market Opening - An Overview

Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange were trading 0.18% higher at 17,847, signalling that Dalal is likely to open higher on Friday, ahead of the RBI’s monetary policy decision. 

The Indian rupee gained 20 paise to end at 74.77 against the US dollar on Thursday.

Tata Consultancy Services will kick off the earnings season by announcing their second-quarter results later in the day.

Asian stocks opened higher on Friday, tracking Wall Street as concerns eased regarding the U.S. debt ceiling crisis and rising energy prices. Japan’s Nikkei climbed 2.16% and Topix rose 1.80%. Hang Seng edged up 0.20% and CSI 300 advanced 1.25%.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises: The company has got a relief in the tussle with its shareholder Invesco as the National Company Law Appellatte Tribunal (NCLAT) said the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has committed an error by not granting Zee sufficient time to file a reply to Invesco’s demand for an Extraordinary General Meeting. NCLAT said NCLT’s order directing Zee to reply within two days violated principles of natural justice. NCLAT directed NCLT to allow Zee reasonable and sufficient opportunity to file a reply in this regard.

IndiGo Airlines: The company’s promoter Rakesh Gangwal has moved Delhi High Court to enforce a 250-page arbitration award by the London Court of International Arbitration. According to the proceedings initiated by Bhatia-owned lnterGlobe Enterprises (IGE), the London Court of International Arbitration in September had given the final award in the fight between the two promoters of the company.

Oberoi Realty Ltd: The realty firm posted a jump in its sales bookings which stood at Rs 828.52 crore for the quarter ended September on higher housing demand helped by low mortgage rates. Its sales bookings stood at Rs 327.30 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in a regulatory filing. The total volume sold stood at nearly 4.4 lakh square feet area.

Emami: The company’s edible oil and bio-diesel arm Emami Agrotech is aiming a turnover of Rs 25,000 crore by 2025 on higher volumes. The company is expecting to clock a revenue of about Rs 20,000 crore in this fiscal year, as against a revenue of Rs 12,000 crore last fiscal.

TVS Motor: The third biggest two-wheeler maker in India has expanded the Jupiter range of scooters with the launch of a 125cc version with price starting at Rs 73,400 (ex-showroom Delhi). The new model is bigger, spacious with features such as the largest under-seat storage, segment-leading longest seat, masculine styling and unrivalled mileage.
