Nifty futures on Singapore Exchange were trading 0.36% lower at 16,210, indicating that Dalal Street was headed for a negative start on Monday. The Sensex closed 0.39% lower at 54,277.72, and the Nifty fell 0.35 per cent to 16,238.20 on Friday. On the technical charts, Nifty showed a strong resistance at 16,300 level.
The Indian rupee gained 2 paise over its previous close to end at 74.15 against the US dollar on Friday.
Asian markets opened lower in early trade on Moday and pared some of its losses as investors were cautious over Fed’s likely move to pull back stimulus. The Dow and the S&P 500 indices closed at record highs on Friday after a strong employment data.

Bank of Baroda: The public sector lender reported a net profit of Rs 1,208 crore in Apr-Jun quarter as against net loss of Rs 864 crore in the year-ago period. The bank’s net interest income (NII) rose 15.8% to Rs 7,892 crore in the quarter, from Rs 6,816 crore in the same of last year. The non-interest income rose 63% to Rs 2,969 crore in Q1 of FY22, from Rs 1,818 crore in Q1 of FY21. Gross NPA stood at 8.86% in the quarter, compared with 9.4% in the same period of FY21.
SAIL: The steel manufacturer reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,897.36 crore in Apr-Jun quarter of FY22, as against Rs 1,226.47-crore net loss in the year-ago period. The company’s operating revenue doubled to Rs 20,643 crore in the quarter, from Rs 9,067 crore in the same quarter of previous year. The company’s total expenses during the quarter were Rs 15,604 crore, as against Rs 11,325 crore a year ago.
Hindustan Copper: The company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 45.63 crore for the quarter ended June of FY22, up 54% from Rs 29.69 crore in the year-ago period. The company’s consolidated income in the quarter fell to Rs 278.73 crore, from Rs 441.38 crore in the year-ago period.
City Union Bank: The private sector lender posted a marginal increase of 12% rise in its net profit at Rs 173 crore in Q1 of FY22 on lower provisioning for bad loans. The bank had posted a net profit of Rs 154 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Total income during the quarter slipped to Rs 1,193 crore from Rs 1,210 crore in the same period a year ago. Interest income fell to Rs 997 crore in the quarter, from Rs 1,049 crore in the year-ago period. Gross NPAs stood at 5.59% in Q1 of FY22, compared with 3.9% in the year-ago period.
Berger Paint: The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 140.48 crore in Apr-Jun quarter of FY22, compared with a net profit of Rs 15.09 crore in the year-ago period. Its revenue from operations rose 93.22% to Rs 1,798.49 crore, from Rs 930.76 crore in the same period of last year. Total expenses stood at Rs 1,624.36 crore, an 80.20% rise from Rs 901.42 crore in the corresponding period of last year.
Piramal Enterprises: The company reported a 7.71% increase in consolidated net profit of Rs 533.79 crore in the first quarter of FY22, from Rs 495.56 crore in the year-ago period. Its consolidated operating revenue stood at Rs 2908.68 crore in the quarter, from Rs 2937.34 crore in the year-ago period.
Divi’s Laboratories: The company reported a 13% rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 557 in Apr-Jun quarter of FY22, compared with Rs 492 crore in the year-ago period. Total income increased to Rs 1997 crore in the quarter, from Rs 1748 crore in the same period of last year.
