Market Opening - An Overview
Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange were trading 0.20% higher at 18,462.50, signalling that Dalal Street was headed for a positive start on Wednesday.
Asian stocks were trading higher, tracking the US markets which closed higher on positive earnings reports. Japan’s Nikkei rose 0.16%, Topix was up 0.15%. Hang Seng jumped 1.04%, while China’s CSI 300 slipped 0.30%.

ICICI Prudential Life: The insurance company’s net profit jumped 47% to Rs 445 crore in Q2FY22, from Rs 303 crore in the year-ago period. The total income for the reported quarter rose to Rs 23,188 crore, from Rs 16,715 crore in the same period last year. Its MD and CEO N S Kannan said the net income growth was driven by rise in the value of the new business and a massive jump in investment income which climbed to Rs 13,817 crore in the quarter, from Rs 8,000 crore a year-ago period.
Larsen & Toubro Tech Services: The company’s consolidated net profit increased 39.1% to Rs 230 crore in Q2FY22, from Rs 165.5 crore in the same period of last year. Its revenue grew 22.4% to Rs 1,607.7 crore in the quarter, from Rs 1,313.8 crore a year-ago period. The company has proposed a special dividend of Rs 10 per equity share to mark the five-year anniversary of LTTS’ IPO and the record date is October 27, 2021.
ACC: The cement maker said its consolidated net profit rose 23.74% to Rs 450.21 crore in Jul-Sep quarter of FY22, as against Rs 363.85 in the year-ago period. Total revenue from operations rose 5.98% to Rs 3,749 crore from Rs 3,537.31 crore in the same quarter of last year.
Nestle India: The FMCG major posted a 5.15% rise in net profit to Rs 617.37 crore in Jul-Sep quarter, led by high single-digit volume growth in the Indian market. It posted a profit of Rs 587.09 crore in the same period a year ago. Net sales grew 9.63% to Rs 3,864.97 crore as against Rs 3,525.41 crore in the year-ago period.
ICICI Securities: The financial services company said its net profit rose 26% to Rs 351 crore in Q2FY22, from Rs 278 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue rose to Rs 857 crore in the quarter, from Rs 680 crore in the same period last fiscal. The board has declared an interim dividend of Rs 11.25 per share in the quarter.
Reliance Industries Ltd: The company’s retail arm, Reliance Retail, has bought a 52% stake in Ritu Kumar’s firm Ritika Pvt Ltd for an undisclosed amount. The deal included acquiring Everstone’s 35% stake in the company.
Sonata Software: The technology company’s second-quarter net profit surged 59.4% to Rs 91.17 crore in FY22, from Rs 57.20 crore in the year-ago period. Sales rose 19.83% to Rs 963.18 crore in the quarter ended September 2021, as against Rs 803.77 crore during the same quarter last fiscal.
Network18 Media: The company reported a jump in its consolidated profit to Rs 199.27 crore in Q2FY22, from Rs 68.01 crore in the year-ago period. The robust earnings were attributed to improved revenue, lower finance cost and operating expenses. ITs operating revenue climbed to Rs 1387.24 crore in the quarter, from Rs 1060.89 crore in the corresponding period of last year.
Heidelberg Cement India: The company’s net profit declined 4.55% to Rs 59.56 crore in the second quarter of FY22, as against Rs 62.4 crore in the year-ago period, due to increased operating cost. Its operating revenue rose to Rs 569.24 crore, up 11.03% from Rs 512.69 crore in the same quarter last year.
DCM Shriram: The chemicals manufacturing company said its consolidated net profit rose to Rs 159 crore, up 33.2% from Rs 119 crore in the same period last year. Total income increased to Rs 2198.61 crore in the reported quarter from Rs 2064.61 crore in the yaer-ago period. The company said there is significant uncertainity with respect to input costs, but, the company has adequate supplies for continued operations.
Rallis India: The company posted a decline of 32.53% in its consolidated profit after tax to Rs 56 crore in Q2FY22, from Rs 83 crore i the year-ago period, due to erratic monsoon season and changes in cropping pattern. It revenue grew marginally by 0.4% to Rs 728 crore in the quarter, from Rs 725 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Adani Group: The company has plans to invest about $50-70 billion in renewable energy value chain over the next decade. Its chairman Gautam Adani said the group firms have committed 70% of planned capital expenditure until 2030 to the energy transition. Speaking to business leaders on the sidelines of the UK’s Global Investment Summit at the London Science Museum, Adani said hydrogen is a game-changer and the group’s green energy portfolio will expand to become one of the world’s largest green hydrogen producers.
Axis Bank: The lender said in a press release that it is offering waivers of 12 EMIs on select home loan products and providing on-road finance without any processing fee for two-wheeler customers. There are also discounts on various online purchases as part of the festival season. Business owners can avail several benefits on term loans, equipment loan and commercial vehicle finance.
