Market Opening - An Overview
SGX Nifty futures were trading 0.12% higher at 15,774.50, pointing to a positive start on Dalal Street on Thursday. The Sensex and Nifty pared some losses on Wednesday and closed down 0.26% at 52,443.71 and 0.24% to 15,709.4, respectively.
The Indian rupee gained 9 paise to close at 74.38 against the US dollar on Wednesday.
Asian shares gained in early trade after the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decision to continue its dovish stance.
In the US markets, Nasdaq closed higher on strong results from technology companies, while the Dow and S&P 500 fell.

Maruti Suzuki: The automaker posted a standalone net profit of Rs 440.8 crore in Q1 of FY22 due to lower sales volume, as against a net loss of Rs 249.4 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue fron sale of its products increased to Rs 16798.70 crore, as against Rs 3677.5 crore reported in the corresponding period of last year. Total expenses rose to Rs 17715 crore in the quarter, from Rs 5770.5 crore in Q1 of FY21. Maruti sold 353,614 units during the quarter, compared with sales of 76,599 units in the year-ago period.
Nestle India: The packaged food manufacturer reported a 11% growth in its net profit to Rs 538.6 crore for the quarter ended June of FY22, from Rs 486.6 crore in the corresponding quarter previous year. The company’s revenue from operations rose 14% to Rs 3,462.4 crore in the quarter, as against Rs 3042 crore from the year-ago period. Nestle’s price of raw materials consumed jumped 24% to Rs 1,479 crore, from Rs 1,194 crore.
Happiest Minds: The technology firm posted a 29% fall in its consolidated net profit to Rs 35.73 crore in the Apr-June quarter of FY22, from net profit of Rs 50.18 crore in the year-ago period. Its revenue grew 41.4% to Rs 331.52 crore in the quarter, from Rs 234.44 crore in the year-ago period.
United Breweries: The beer manufacturer posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 30.94 crore in the first quarter of FY22, compared with a net loss of Rs 114.50 crore during the same period of previous year. The company’s operating revenue doubled to Rs 2,652.63 crore in the quarter, from Rs 1,262.82 crore in the same period of FY21.
Route Mobile: The company reported a 27.44% rise in its consolidated profit after tax at Rs 34.3 crore for Apr-Jun quarter of FY22, as against a profit of Rs 26.9 crore in the year-ago period. Its operating revenue grew 22% to Rs 377.5 crore in the quarter, from Rs 309.6 crore in the corresponding period of FY21.
