August, wrapped: Key market moves, sector trends and the developments that shaped investor sentiment.

Hello readers,

As we wrap up August,, it’s time to look back at how the Indian stock market performed during the month. In this edition of our Market Watch, we recap the month’s major highlights, explore the factors that influenced market sentiment, and discuss what investors should keep an eye on in the weeks ahead.

August 2026 was a mixed month for Indian equities. While benchmark indices such as the Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the month lower, strong foreign institutional buying and record highs in several mid- and small-cap stocks reflected improving investor confidence. Global concerns over rising crude oil prices and U.S. interest rate expectations created volatility, but healthy corporate earnings and resilient domestic economic growth helped support overall market sentiment.
