Major stock indices closed lower as companies posted weak earnings and investors were cautious ahead of the US inflation numbers. The Sensex fell 0.69% and the Nifty 50 index was down 0.71%.

In broader markets, Nifty Midcap 100 index tanked 1.16% and the BSE Smallcap index lost 1.05%.

Top losers among Nifty sectoral indices were Auto [-1.95%], PSU Bank [-1.28%], Energy [-0.85%], Oil & Gas [-0.76%] and Pharma [-0.74%]. All indices ended in the red.

Indian rupee fell 31 paise to close at 81.81 against the US dollar on Thursday.

Oil India: The state-owned company posted a net Profit of Rs 1896.2 crore in Q2FY23, down 32.4% from Rs 2,805.2 crore in the preceding quarter. Revenue fell 22.7% to Rs 8,258.7 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 10,681.4 crore in Q1FY23. EBITDA plunged 44.7% to Rs 2,703.2 crore in Q2FY23 compared to Rs 4,890.2 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal. EBITDA margin was down to 32.7% in the reported quarter from 45.8% in the preceding quarter.

Page Industries: The makers of Jockey posted a net profit of Rs 162.1 crore in Q2FY23, up 1% from Rs 160.5 crore in Q2FY22. Revenue was up 15.8% at Rs 1,255 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 1,084 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA up 1.9% at Rs 237.9 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 233.4 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA margin dropped to 19% in the reported quaryer compared to 21.5% in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

Power Finance Corporation (PFC): The public sector enterprise reported a net profit of Rs 2,999 crore, up 8.7% from Rs 2,759 crore in th eyear-ago period. Net Interest Income was up 9% YoY to Rs 3,849 crore in the reported quarter as agaisnt Rs 3,530 crore in the year-ago period.

Samvardhana Motherson: The company has posted a consolidated net profit of 13.4%YoY at Rs 246 crore in Q2FY23 as against Rs 217 crore in the year-ago period. Its consolidated revenue was up 30% YoY at Rs 18,261 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 14,077 crore in Q2FY22. The company’s EBITDA jumpe 48.7% to Rs 1,403 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 943 crore in the year-ago period. The EBITDA margin rose to 7.7% in the quarter under review from 6.7% in the year-ago period. Shares of the company rose 3.3% on the BSE.

Kalyan Jewellers: The jewellery retailer posted a revenue of Rs 3472.9 crore in Q2FY23, up 20.2% from Rs 2,888.7 in the year-ago period. The company’s profit jumped 54.8% to Rs 106.4 in Q2FY23 from Rs 68 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. EBIDTA increased 16.7% YoY to Rs 266.1 crore in the reported quarter as against Rs 228.1 crore in the year-ago period. Its margin stood at 7.7% compared with 7.9% in the year-ago quarter.

VRL Logistics: The company’s net profit fell 36.6% to Rs 31.4 crore in Q2FY23 compared to Rs 49.5 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue was up 14.8% at Rs 730.8 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 636.7 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. EBITDA was down 13% at Rs 99.3 crore in the reported quarter from Rs 114.1 crore in Q2FY22. Margin droped to 13.6% in Q2FY23 from Vs 18% in Q2FY22.

BASF: The company reproted a net profit of Rs 113.1 crore in Q2FY23, down 17.6% from Rs 137.3 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue was up 5.2% at Rs 3,582 crore in th quarter under review from Rs 3,406 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA fell 18.1% YoY to Rs 187.7 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 229.2 crore in the year-ago period.

Century Ply: The company registered a net profit of Rs 94.1 crore in Q2FY23, down 5% from Rs 99 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue rose 11.7% YoY to Rs 908.6 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 813.6 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA tanked 23% to Rs 123 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 160 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA margin fell to 13.5% in Q2FY23 from 19.6% in the year-ago period.

Deepak Fertilisers: The company posted a net profit of Rs 272 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 91 crore in Q2FY22. Revenue jumped 51.7% to Rs 2,719.3 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 1,793 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA also increased to Rs 495 crore in Q2FY23 as against Rs 212 crore in the year-ago period. Margin surged to 18.2% in the reported quarter from 11.8% in th eyear-ago period.

Natco Pharma: The drugmaker’s net profit fell 12.7% to Rs 6.8 crore as against Rs 65.1 crore (YoY). Revenue was up 14.6% to Rs 432.1 crore as against Rs 377.2 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA rose 35.2% YoY to Rs 95.3 crore in Q2FY23 as against Rs 70.5 crore in the year-ago period.

Nilkamal report: The furniture company said that net profit was down 15.2% to Rs 24 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 28.3 crore in Q2FY22. Revenue was up 9.2% to Rs 807.7 crore in Q2FY23 as against Rs 739.4 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA fell 1.6% YoY to Rs 66 crore in the reported quarter as against Rs 67 crore in the same period last year.

Nesco: The company reported a net profit of Rs 82 crore, up 86.4% from Rs 44 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA double to Rs 101.2 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 50.4 crore in the same period last year.

TVS Srichakra: The company reported a net profit of Rs 38.2 crore in Q2FY23, a rise of 51% from Rs 25.3 crore in Q2FY22. Revenue rose 20.6% YoY to Rs 833.5 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 691.3 crore Q2FY23. EBITDA was up 30.7% at Rs 82.7 crore in the second quarter under review as against Rs 63.3 crore in the year-ago period.

Zydus Wellness: The company‘s net profit plummeted by 60.5% to Rs 8.5 crore in Q2FY23 as against Rs 21.5 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue was up 11.9% YoY to Rs 429.5 crore in Q2FY23 as against Rs 383.6 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA fell 46.8% YoY to Rs 16.3 crore in the reported quarter as against Rs 30.5 crore in the same period last year. EBITDA margin halved to 3.8% in the Q2FY23 from 8% in Q2FY22.

Sandhar Technologies: The company’s consolidated net profit fell 23.1% to Rs 16.3 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 21.2 crore in Q2FY22. Its consolidated revenue was up 20.7% to Rs 746.3 crore in the reported quarter from Rs 618.2 crore in the same period last year. EBITDA slipped 2.9% to Rs 58.1 crore in Q2F23 from Rs 60 crore in Q2FY22. Margin dropped to 7.8% in the reported quarter from 9.7% in the same period a year ago.

Balrampur Chini: The company reported a net loss of Rs 29 crore as against a net profit of Rs 83 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue was down 8.3% YoY to Rs 1113.1 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 1214 crore in the same period last fiscal. EBITDA loss was Rs 16 crore in the quarter under review as against profit of Rs 135 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. The company’s board approved a buyback up to Rs 145.44 crore at Rs 360 per share.

Neuland Labs: The company’s net profit was up 88.8% at Rs 38.4 crore from Rs 20.4 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue increased 13.9% YoY to Rs 293.7 crore in the reported quarter from Rs 257.8 crore in th eyear-ago period. EBITDA jumped 61.8% to Rs 69.3 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 42.8 crore Q2FY22. EBITDA margin soared to 23.6% in Q2FY23 from 16.6% in Q2FY22.

Morepen Labs: The diagnostic company posted a net profit of Rs 15.8 crore in Q2FY23, down 57.7% from Rs 37.4 crore in Q2FY22. Revenue rose 1.9% to Rs 403 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 395.3 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA fell 43.1% YoY to Rs 29 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 51 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA margin fell to 7.2% in Q2FY23 from 12.9% in the year-ago period.

Vijaya Diagnostic: The company reported a net profit of Rs 23.3 crore in Q2FY23, down 15.8% from Rs 27.7 crore in Q2FY22. Revenue was up 7.1% to Rs 120.7 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 112.7 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA dropped 4.7% to Rs 48.7 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 51.1 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA margin fell 40.4% in Q2FY23 from 45.4% in Q2FY22.

Surya Roshni: The company said its net profit was up 53.5% at Rs 68 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 44.3 crore in Q2FY22. Revenue rose 2% to Rs 1,984.2 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 1,945.7 crore in Q2FY22. EBIDTA jumped 28% YoY to Rs 129.2 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 100.9 crore in Q2FY22. EBITDA margin rose 6.51% in Q2FY23 from 5.19% in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

Kolte-Patil Developers: The company reported a loss of Rs 8.8 crore in Q2FY23 compared to a profit of Rs 17.7 crore in the year-ago period. The company’s revenue fell 59.4% to Rs 123.3 crore in Q2FY23 from Rs 303.8 crore in Q2FY22.
