Pre Market Analysis: Dalal Street may open higher; Adani Ports, Indian Hotels, Future Retail in news today

Market Opening - An Overview

Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange traded 0.68 per cent higher at 17,716.50, indicating that Dalal Street was headed for a positive start on Wednesday.

Japanese shares were trading higher as investor focused on earnings reports. Nikkei 225 was up 1.49% and Topix gained 1.77%.

Australian indices were up boosted by gains in mining stocks on the back of higher commodity prices. ASX 200 index rose 1.2%.

Indian rupee fell 18 paise to 74.79 against the US dollar on Tuesday.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ): The company reported a 6.20 per cent decline in consolidated profit at Rs 1,478.76 crore for the third quarter of FY22 as against a consolidated profit of Rs 1,576.53 crore in the corresponding period last earlier. Its consolidated total income rose to Rs 4,422.73 crore in the latest December quarter from Rs 4,274.79 crore in the year-ago period.

Indian Hotels Co Ltd (IHCL): The hospitality firm owned by Tata group reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 95.96 crore for the third quarter of FY22 compared with a consolidated net loss of Rs 133.22 crore in the same period last fiscal. Consolidated revenue from operations in the quarter under review stood at Rs 1,111.22 crore, as against Rs 559.86 crore in the year-ago period.

Future Retail Ltd (FRL): The Supreme Court observed that no party will benefit from consequential punitive actions against Future Retail for defaults in loan repayment and asked a consortium of 27 banks to file the response to a plea by the firm. FRL has sought a direction to the lending financial institutions (FIs) that no coercive action be taken against it for a certain time period for non-payment of debt.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd: The company said it wouldn’t convert interest on dues owed to the government into equity as the interest amount eligible for conversion is much lesser than expected and calculated by the carrier. Tata Tele’s expected and calculated amount was Rs 850 crore compared with DoT’s calculated amount of Rs 195 crore

Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd: The company reported a 38.7 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 125.32 crore for the third quarter ended December 2021, due to higher raw material costs. The net profit in the year-ago period was Rs 204.50 crore. Its revenue from operations during Q3FY22 jumped 13.67 per cent to Rs 1,810.35, from Rs 1,592.55 crore in the year-ago period.

Mankind Pharma: The company has entered into an agreement to buy the domestic formulations business of Panacea Biotec Pharma, a subsidiary of Sputnik V maker Panacea Biotec for Rs 1,908 crore.

Triveni Turbine: The company posted 30 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 35.67 crore in the December quarter of FY22 as against a consolidated net profit of Rs 27.54 crore in the quarter ended December 2020. Total income of the company rose to Rs 233.52 crore in the quarter, up from Rs 178.97 crore in the same period a year ago.

Procter & Gamble Hygiene: The company reported 15.38 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 212.06 crore for the quarter ended December 2021. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 250.62 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue from operations was higher at Rs 1,092.98 crore during the period under review as against Rs 1,018.44 crore in the same period a year ago.

Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Ltd: The financial services company has posted a standalone profit of Rs 523.79 crore for the quarter ended December 2021 compared with a standalone net profits at Rs 408.86 crore during the corresponding quarter previous year. Total income for the quarter under review on a standalone basis was Rs 2,530.22 crore as against Rs 2,504.86 registered in the same period last fiscal.

Poonawalla Fincorp Ltd: The company’s consolidated net profit rose sharply to Rs 96 crore in Q3FY22 from Rs 13 crore in Q3FY21 on lower credit cost. Net Interest Margins stood at 8.8 per cent in Q3FY22, up from 8.5 per cent in the year-ago period. The company’s credit costs fell sharply to Rs 2 crore in the reported quarter from Rs 182 crore in Q3FY21.
